Just For Fun

I haven’t gotten to do jump testing just yet but I figured I’d share some results from the couple of tests that I did with the George Mason team a couple of weeks back. Besides, better to share them now before they’re too old and no longer relevant. It’s always fun to test though, even if you’re doing it just for the heck of it like I was. Analyzing these test results is pretty difficult for me since I’m not sure what they mean exactly for my jumping, if anything, but I think it’s at least confirmation that my explosiveness is where it should be. I’ll also be able to gauge how things are progressing throughout the season (assuming I do these tests again). If possible, I might jump into the team’s 30 meter dash test tomorrow before heading back to NY though and that’s one test that is definitely pretty easy to interpret.

Test Result
Sit-Ups (60 sec.) 66
Shot Put Throw (Forward) 15.44m/50’8″
Shot Put Throw (Backwards) 17.01m/55’10″
Standing Long Jump 3.43m/11’3″
Standing Triple Jump (Double Leg Jumps) 10.59m/34’9″

Workouts have been on point since these tests. Here’s a quick video of some box drills and bounds (with the weight vest) from lastweek. This was our 2nd day on the boxes this season:

Haha; you already know man. I’ve made/have been making a couple tweaks here and there that have been paying dividends. Not even the sky is the limit…lol

Woah, 34’9 on double leg jumps? Or the standing TJ where you start on 2 ft, and then perform two bounds? I really like your approach to TJ man, as in your understanding of what you have to do. Take care,

Thanks a lot. You had the right idea about the double leg jumps. It’s called standing triple jump just because there are three jumps but it’s really three double leg jumps. I just like being a student of the event and learning what it takes to fix my flaws; it has really helped my improvement.

Nice dude. I’m wondering though how far you’d get in the standing triple jump I described, the version most people use to describe it. The first two videos if you youtube it show this version.

I see. I’m actually pretty interested in knowing too! I’ll see if I can’t throw it in the next time we do some testing of this sort and see how far out there I can go. Should be fun.
